Stonehenge and Salisbury 2011

After our trip to the Isle of Wight, we went to Stonehenge. There were some people there, but not too many, which was good. There is a rope around the stones, so you can’t get all the way in (although I did see people jump over the rope, but then quickly jump back). It was still possible to take nice pictures without other tourists in them:

Globetrotter Chick at Stonehenge. My friend's husband volunteered to hold the Chick. :)

I thought it was great, although there is a motorway really close by. And the sky looked very dramatic and gave us a nice shower at one point, but it was still a nice experience. :)

After this, my friends dropped me off in Salisbury, which I took a little walk in while they headed back to Gatwick airport. It’s a nice place, Salisbury, and I hope to go again some time. I imagine it would be a nice place to just hang out for a day. I didn’t visit the famous cathedral, partly because I was a bit tired, partly because the entrance fee seemed quite expensive for just a church.

Here are some photos from Salisbury (which is not pronounced Sales-bury, but almost like Souls-bury):

This monument is called the Poultry Cross.

A funny shop.

The Endless Street! Which, according to Google Maps, is really quite short...

St. Thomas' Church.
